Our school has about 250 students who live in a middle class suburban neighborhood. The teachers work hard to create a pleasant school climate where students feel safe and take pride in their campus. We are a dress uniform school, but we incorporate "School Spirit Days" where students dress in their favorite sports gear, crazy socks, or have free dress while the teachers have to wear a uniform! The school is a California Distinguished School and we proudly have a Smartboard in every classroom. My classroom consists of 25 students. I have a nice balance of males and females. Four students are working on mastering the English language. This year I have many students who are very active and curious about their learning. They always want to dive deeper into the curriculum and know more. The students enjoy working in small groups to discuss current event topics and make presentations to the class. All subjects seem to be of interest to them!
