For the past 22 years I have taught middle school English in rural Pennsylvania. Our school enrollment is approximately a thousand students in grades six through eight. My students are athletes, musicians, readers, hunters, gamers, skaters, and, yes, readers and writers! Even though I began my career in a building close to one-hundred years old with no phones in the rooms, let alone computers, I feel kids are the same. Their problems may change, but they all still want to be liked, challenged, taken seriously, entertained, and disciplined. Our school has been designated a "School to Watch" three times, and we are very proud of that. We strive to continually meet students' needs: academically, socially, and emotionally.
