Having the 3D printer and materials will allow students to turn their ideas into reality (or prototypes) and also provide some real-world skills in using this technology. At this time, the only access to a 3D printer for students is for those enrolled in the technology education program. Students not in that program also have a need to create, model and build prototypes across disciplines, and the Library Media Center is the ideal place to provide that opportunity. Because the library is available to all students, regardless of their program, any interested student will be able to design and create prototypes or models to enhance their projects and interests. Students who want to make a prototype or model of the idea they have in any class, will have the ability to do so in the library's Makerspace.
