The students that I teach come from diverse backgrounds with limited experiences and exposure to places outside of the local community. The school is located in a rural community, with high incidence of poverty. Our students look forward to school, knowing that it is a safe place for them. Many of these children's parents are illiterate and are unable to provide assistance to their children in becoming knowledgeable through reading and writing.
