My seventh graders missed a year of science instruction due to the pandemic. As a result, they are lacking valuable, practical experiences that most students their age have had. The equipment requested will go a long way in helping alleviate some of the gaps in their learning. Beakers and scales are the backbone of my science classroom. Students will use the glassware for everything from studying chemical reactions (MS-PS1-2), to modeling convection currents in the earth's mantle (MS-ESS2-2). Scales are used for basic skills like volume, and to prove concepts like conservation of mass (MS-PS1-5). That is just a small sample of how these supplies will help me deliver quality instruction to my students not just for one unit, but for the entire year. More than just this year, these supplies will assist me in continuing to provide hands-on experiences for upcoming years.
