This year will mark the second year to have a middle girls team within our small school district. So we are still in the growing stages of female sports on our campus. We make the first of two teams on our campus that allows middle school girls to take part in athletics. Also, we are considered to be an "at-risk," low socioeconomic status campus. We have a 70% ESL/ELL (English language learner) population. However, nothing warms my heart more than seeing my students engaged and forgetting their struggles and falling in love with something they enjoy. Knowing that they have a place where they can grow and escape their harsh realities motivates them. Through soccer, before/after school tutorials I want to create an atmosphere that they will remember for a lifetime.
