I teach Senior English at a high school in Texas. We have a great district filled with a very diverse population. However, the technology we have in our school, and available for student use is limited, like most campuses. My goal is to help as many students as possible to graduate high school, and move forward in their education and careers. Right now, my students use their smartphones, and the few Kindles I have acquired to do their work. My classroom is going digital, and all of the students' work is being submitted just as it would on a college campus. This goal, preparing my kids to the best of my ability, will be greatly helped by the purchase of laptops for my classroom. Our campus does have 2 mobile chrome carts for use, but they are for the use of over 2500 students, and 139 teachers. As an English class, we are filling out college entrance applications, and writing scholarship essays. Many of them are capable of writing their papers on their phones, but in order to format it correctly and submit it as required by higher education, my kids need the digital access a laptop will provide. I know with the help of a community of donors, my students will flourish in their education, and grow to be contributing members of society. Thank you!
