I work in an inner city middle school. Our student body is 99% African American with 97% qualifying for a free/reduced lunch. I have been the librarian here for 10 years and love getting our students excited about reading! My challenge, daily, is to inspire and motivate these students to develop a love for reading. Even the most ardent elementary school readers quit reading for fun in middle school. There are too many other ways to spend their free time.
