My students come from the Bronx, where a majority come from low-income families. They are middle school aged and learning to grow and develop mentally and physically. It is a tough age at times. My school has the great potential to have a great physical education program. My students lack the equipment in order for my program to become a gem. My students only get PE once a week in the gym which is a shame. I believe that this age needs to burn energy and be free to express themselves physically, where some students shine instead of in the classroom. My students really don't get a lot time for physical education class and I really want them to have fun this year using new equipment so they can experience the different activities that I can do with this equipment. I want my students to be able to have their own piece of equipment and not have to share each piece of equipment for each lesson I do.
