By the time students who struggle with reading, writing, and social emotional skills get to middle school, they're often burned out with interventions and embarrassed to be receiving extra support in a small group setting. In order to help them restore the FUN in reading and writing, I would like to provide them with a space that feels safe and comfortable to learn. This looks like creating a comfortable atmosphere through the use of light filters and string lights and seating options such as stools. Games are a tool for community building. The selected books allow students to see themselves reflected in what they're reading and to learn about others.
