In this age of technology, the ability to navigate the world through computers and other technological tools is just as prevalent as the use of books.
It is pertinent that my students have access to and an understanding of the very materials that they will use throughout their academic and professional careers. The tools that I have selected are items that will be utilized everyday for large group instruction as well small group engagement. Here are the specific ways I plan on utilizing the selected items.
Smart boards have heavily been utilized in my classroom in the past for routines, behavior management tracking, small group center activities and large group instruction. I will no longer have a Smart board, so the projector and Apple TV are a less expensive alternative. Students enjoy interactive presentations in which they are able to engage kinesthetically and tacitly and are able to independently use the smart board during small group centers.
iPads will be used to support use of literacy and math programs, Lexia and ST Math. Students are excited to play these skill-building games during center time!
A listening center is a great example of blended learning! Students will listen to books audibly as they follow along in their books. Text and technology at it's best!
In this current age of technology, exposure to technology in the classroom is advantageous. Technology enables me to create an engaging environment that supports desired behavior of an expert learner such as problem-solving, confidence and self-regulation.
