I feel very lucky to work in a school with such a positive and collaborative staff. The sixth grade team works together to plan engaging and creative lessons for our students. We are an incredibly diverse school with families from all over the world. It takes a lot of time to plan lessons that will be meaningful to our students with such diverse backgrounds. Many of my students are on free and reduced lunch and do not have access to books at home. I work with the students and their families to provide books for them to read at home. My students love to read! When I get new books they can't wait to check them out. Often times I have a line of students at my door at the end of the day to check out books. One of the ways that we can reach our students is through good literature. They love to make connections with books and we can learn from them as they relate to their novels.
