I want my students to see people that look like themselves on the covers of books. I need my students to see that the obstacles they face in their life can be overcome. I feel that my African American students don't get to see people that look like them on the covers of books. Help me change that. Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes is a free verse poetry book that features eighteen different students reading poetry to their class. This novel is an excellent resource for teaching points of view, poetry, and overcoming obstacles. This novel can be used across curriculums and grade levels, giving us a chance to reach all of our students.
