I have many types of students. I have some with lisps and articulation difficulties. Some with grammar, story telling and sequencing difficulties. A lot of my time is spent making functional language programs for children with autism (ASD). I have preschoolers who do not speak, they have no voice. I am working with my special education teachers and assistants to make the lives of these children easier. In order to work with many of my ASD children they need to be sensory regulated and they need lots of repetition of the same item. Once sensory regulated or during sensory input time, these students have an easier time to communicate. Some students communicate using sign language and some using pictures. My school works hard to meet the needs of these children. We have a wonderful team of teachers and professionals who help daily to improve the lives of these children with disabilities.
