Demonstration of techniques is a vital way to introduce students to new art experiences. In my classroom, I engage students in instruction by showing examples and techniques with a document camera. They gain confidence when we can match a visual with an idea. Clear demonstration videos are also a great tool for individual instruction, especially when someone has missed a live demonstration. When students are able to observe a clear and crisp demonstration, they can take off on their own art adventure using what they have learned. Demonstrating for the entire class group and then leaving examples displayed allows my students to have a continual visual reference while I circulate the room to offer individual feedback. As I circulate, if I see a need that presents itself with many students, I can return to a demonstration to provide clarity and improve understanding. This new document camera will provide my students with demonstrations that are clear and with accurate color. It will also give me the opportunity to create instructional videos from my demonstrations that will assist my young artists with their creations.
