In my classroom, there are a variety of learners with a variety of needs. From sensory input needs to physical limitations to learners who seek comfort, my class is a melting pot of diverse students. Aware of this, I decided to do a trial run of flexible seating in my classroom this school year to see if giving my students an opportunity to choose their seating made a difference in their learning. Focus, student level of comfort and ownership in learning all increased. By donating to this project, you are helping learners focus for a longer period of time, self-regulate their need for sensory input and feel more comfortable in the learning environment! For the trial run, I used gently-worn furniture donations from fabulous friends, as well as garage sale finds! Having seen the effects of the trial run, I would like to completely transform my room to flexible seating and replace worn out seating choices. Every learner is different and therefore, needs to be able to choose how they are most comfortable learning! Please help my diverse students have flexible seating for their diverse needs!
