My school is a Title I school in Oklahoma City. I have 27 students in my classroom and a part time teacher assistant. My students primarily come from high poverty homes. School is an escape for some of them. I believe that providing students with the opportunity to learn in cooperative groups would greatly enrich the remainder of their lives. Cooperative learning groups will prepare them to be successful members of their communities when they grow up. My students lack the attention span to be able to concentrate during whole group lessons. In order for my lessons to be beneficial to my students, I believe that cooperative learning groups are necessary.
