I am fortunate to teach third grade in a brand new progressive charter school that values a child centered approach to teaching. My 19 students are from the inner city of Baltimore, Maryland. Half of them are significantly below grade level in reading and/or math. My classroom is full inclusion. Six of my students have IEPs, one has a 504 plan and another is in the SST process. Some of my third graders are non-readers. Others are still working toward understanding "ten." My class needs manipulatives and materials for differentiated math and literacy centers.
