I would like to say my class is typical America. It is extremely diverse from students' socioeconomic status' to the languages and cultures. They all have something unique and amazing to offer this world and they will someday be the ones deciding what is best for the rest of us because they are the future. My students need the tools to become the 21st century learner that they are. When I look at my classroom and I think of STEAM...they only thing we're missing is the technology. We have the science, currently working on states of matter. Our upcoming engineering projects will involved wiring a mini community. We celebrate the arts through our various school wide programs and we even have a new math adoption to align with common core. But, even with all of the that my students are not able to reach their potential without the technology. These iPads will give my students the opportunity to research and create far beyond what anyone thinks a first grade student can do.
