Washington Caldwell school is a K-8 rural school. Our school is small, but we try to accomplish big goals. My students this year are very enthusiastic and are passionate about learning. I noticed that when I planned science experiments with them, they became very excited. They enjoy getting involved with their learning and seem to flourish when engaged in a "Hands-On" activity. My class has access to technology, but they are very interested in being directly involved in activities such as experiments, games, and exploring. My class also learns well in experiment lab groups and discussion groups. We went outside for a lesson on rocks and minerals and students were completely engaged with their magnifying glasses looking for certain features we discussed. I encouraged them to look for or even "dig" a little for the rocks. One of the students came up to me when we were outside and said that she loved getting her hands dirty. It was a great day of educational engagement!
