I have 23 first graders this year. They are inquisitive and eager to explore ideas in ways that are purposeful and engaging. Our school is a Title 1 school, with 88% receiving free or reduced lunch, and 60% of my 1st graders are English Language Learners. With these numbers in mind, I am reflective on ways to empower and support students in meeting their learning goals. Many of my students do not have access to the internet at home, and therefore are unable to connect with resources that would support their learning. When we use technology in the classroom, my students light up! They are excited to participate, and love sharing their ideas and knowledge with their classmates. Living in a tech-savvy world, it is critical that students have access to technology and understand how it can increase learning, expand communication, and connect with others around them.
