My students are part of a teacher academy pipeline and are constantly looking at ways to practice lesson planning that incorporate more energy into the classroom. They work with teachers at a local elementary in an attempt to save teachers time and also create engaging activities for students that can be used immediately and for years to come.
With this project, my future teachers will be studying multicultural literature for young children and using laptops to create read aloud books, virtual libraries, and interactive bulletin boards for elementary students in our area.
While some of these activities can be done on their school-assigned Chromebooks, several of the apps require a laptop. We currently only have one class laptop. This would bring that number to three and would make it much easier to get our projects done in a timely manner. Students would be focusing on several Nevada Content Standards but primarily focusing on how to utilize the diverse learner's prior knowledge, skills, experiences, languages, and culture in instructional planning in creating effective lesson plans.
