Many visual and auditory distractions compete for my student's attention. My students spend many hours in front of sources of blue light such as iPads, television, computers, phones, and other technology. The blue light filters will cut down on the number of blue light students are exposed. The blue light filters will also decrease the amount of visual noise in my speech classroom and help create a calming environment for my middle school students. According to the manufacturer, the Light Filters for Every Season will "Tone down the harsh glare and flickers from typical fluorescent lighting while creating a more calming and seasonally festive environment." For students who spend much of their day struggling to learn grade-level material and/or struggling to catch up with their grade-level peers, the support we can provide without adding goals to their Individual Education Plans (IEPs), the easier it will be for them to grow into students who are working on grade-level material.
