Our public school in Brooklyn is a warm, encouraging and nurturing environment. The school community is socially and economically diverse. The students in our first grade class are diverse and talented too. Some have families that immigrated from Poland, Puerto Rico, Italy and the Dominican Republic; while others have families that recently emigrated from the Midwest, the West Coast and even Manhattan. The school community celebrates traditions from all over the world. Our class is taught in a bilingual format. Some of the 25 students' first language is English, while other students' first language is Spanish. But all students learn both languages as a way to share ideas and learn from each other.
