My student artists are lively and active. They arrive to this school from all around the world. Many have only lived in this country a short time, but some have been here for generations. Art is a language which we all share. The students here excel in visual art, and communicate well using art. We learn about and celebrate our similarities and differences through the world of art. Students here struggle with English language skills but can match up toe to toe with any other students around the world when it comes to creating with the visual language of art. Art allows expression and creativity which helps students feel stronger on the inside when they face the tough state testing regime. My students really love art and basketry is their very favorite unit of instruction.
