Our school has approximately 450 students. Over half of those students receive free or reduced lunch and almost 1/3 are English Language Learners. Many of them do not have access to iPads, smartphones, or even computers at home. In today's global society, technology such as this connects students to the world in a way it never could in our generation. Learning takes on a whole new dimension! Imagine being able to use a program such as Skype to take students on a virtual field trip to Yellowstone National Park! A place they might otherwise never see. Or, imagine a student who struggles with fine motor skills being able to tell their story in their own voice using a digital storytelling app rather than write it out. Technology such as this helps these students feel connected and successful in their learning.
