I teach reading to the entirety of the fifth grade. Our school is mighty in their passion, but small in numbers. Many of our students are of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They have a desire to do well and read voraciously. Their district provided reading anthology is old, and for these excited readers, lack interest and applicability to their lives. I feel strongly these readers need current fiction titles to explore and think deeply about people and situations they encounter.

About my class
