My school, a rural country Title 1 school in the Bible belt, houses 200 culturally diverse students. While literacy at home might be an issue, the parents and guardians of my students are committed to bettering their children's lives. As the librarian I have the pleasure of all of the students being my students! Their love of reading is already in place brought about by the encouragements of their parents/guardians, their former teachers, and their former librarians. I also have many students who are interested in science already; it would be a good platform for Lego Club to build a bridge from their current tastes in reading to a practical application that can held build their future in college and their career.
