My first grade students are larger than life! They are a wonderfully diverse bunch of energetic, kind, and enthusiastic learners. When looking at their beautiful faces and into their tender eyes, one would be unaware of the many challenges these students face on a daily basis. Poverty, violence, broken homes, and food insecurity just to name a few. Even though they face many environmental obstacles beyond the school yard fences, my students are eager to learn.
