My school is a public charter school for students who identify themselves as emerging artists. Yes, sometimes I feel like I'm working at Fame. Students will sing in the cafeteria and dance outside. My school is also a Title 1 school, with at least 60 percent of our students qualifying for free/reduced lunches, many of my students live at or below the poverty level while a few are classified as homeless. While so many public schools cut their arts programs, this school was built on the arts. This school is the home for artistic expression and the opportunity for our students earn an education in core academics which will get them to colleges and conservatories.
