My elementary school is one of seven Title 1 schools in Frederick County. It has 91% of its students living in poverty and 55% of its students identified as Limited English Proficiency. It is a school that is currently vastly overpopulated and, therefore, much of it's funding goes to portable classrooms and basic classroom needs. Nevertheless, my school works hard to make sure each child feels valued and receives the best education Frederick County can offer. My classroom consists of many students who work hard and are excited about learning. Currently, my class consists of 91% English Language Learners who come from a variety of multi-cultural experiences and diverse backgrounds. Together, we work hard to establish a community that focuses on working and learning together. Their hard work, positive attitudes, and dedication to learning is ensuring that they are becoming life-long lovers of learning and will certainly make a positive difference in their community.
