I serve low income students, and my high poverty students achieved programming skills through Khan Academy and their goal was to earn $8000. They voted to create a greenhouse and grow herbs and veggies and teach adults how to do the same for urban and nonurban schools. They will create, manage and maintain a website of how to use technology to educate the community on urban and vertical farming. The ultimate plan for implementing a year-round greenhouse into Oxon Hill High School (OHHS) community is to build the greenhouse on the OHHS's property and grow fresh produce for the local food shelf and public school food service. To get started, the team identified an existing culinary program at the OHHS that they could use to learn about greenhouses and growing food to be a producing team, growing locally produced herbs, veggies and supply fund raising herbs to sell to the local community. The team has a business plan.
