My students are composed of different cultural backgrounds; mostly Blacks and Hispanics. They are eager to learn, however, a lot of them lack the foundational skills to function independently. With that being said, they are curious being and are always asking questions. Although, they can't read yet, they love "story time". The school is located in a high poverty neighborhood. It is a community school that services Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade. It has a bilingual program as well. There are over 700 students enrolled and at the present time with 75 employees that include instructional and non-instructional staff.
