My senior English students are some of the smartest and most capable kids I know. They come from a small, rural school district where everyone knows each other, and while we may not have all the resources of a big school, these students make the most of what they have. They're involved in everything—sports, clubs, FFA, choir, you name it—and somehow still manage to keep up with their classes and responsibilities. They're thoughtful, hardworking, and surprisingly insightful when we dig into literature or writing assignments. Many are juggling jobs, family responsibilities, and schoolwork, but they rarely complain. They’ve got a strong sense of community and a practical mindset that comes from growing up in a rural area. I’m constantly impressed by their ability to rise to challenges and take pride in what they do, even if they don’t always realize just how impressive they are.

About my class
