I teach at a school that is over 50 years old in a tree filled neighborhood. We have students of all nationalities and a bilingual program full of Spanish speaking students. We are a Title I school. My class has students from 21 different backgrounds and learning styles, but the same desire to learn if engaged properly. I have several students whose self esteem is low and they need uplifting. Several students have come to me with very little number sense or desire to read. Elementary is the foundation of all learning and I plan to change all these things by the end of the year and create lifelong learners.
