My third grade students enter our portable classroom each day ready to learn and interact with one another. Each student has a good attitude, even if we have to run between the school and portable when it is rainy or snowy. Our school is on a year round schedule due to a booming population, and teachers must rotate classrooms or teach in portable classrooms. Due to the use of portable classrooms, not all of the students have access to the mobile labs that house the iPads and netbook computers. The students have access to the computer lab once a week for 30 minutes, but that is not enough time to learn the skills needed. The students love technology! Their lives revolve around it. One of our school's belief statements is that we believe in recognizing each student's individuality and instruction is differentiated to meet each need. Using technology in the classroom can assist me in differentiating curriculum needs for my students.
