I teach 21 precious kindergarten children in a Title I Alabama school whose large population is eligible for free or reduced price lunches. I teach with eight other kindergarten teachers in my school. We use centers and project based learning to teach content standards. My five and six year old students love to come to school to learn. Learning in my classroom comes from play, investigation and questioning. Maria Montessori said that, "play is the work of the child." This is very true and can be seen daily in my classroom. For many of my kindergarteners, this is their first experience in a school setting. I get to help them obtain a love of learning that will hopefully last a lifetime.
