My students are young kindergarten students just learning to read. They are beginning to understand that letters can make words, words come together to create sentences with the end result being a story. They have a great desire to hear stories being read out loud and listen to the expression and voices being used. I have many books in my classroom however, kindergarten students cannot read them. They do pick them up and look through them and attempt to tell the story from just looking at the pictures, but how empowering it would be if my students had the opportunity to listen and read a wide range of literature rich stories.
