I really can’t think of a better way for children to learn all about chicks and oviparous animals than by giving them the opportunity to experience chicks hatching right before their very own eyes! While waiting for our chicks to hatch, we will read and learn all about other animals that hatch from eggs. We will write stories, do crafts, and come up with names for our new babies. We will turn our classroom into a "baby nursery" in advance of our upcoming delivery. After enjoying our new little chicks for a while we will send them over to our neighboring high school's Agriculture Department, so those students can continue to take care of them and learn from them. They may even let us come and visit them!! Our little eggs will need an incubator to stay in until they can hatch. We will need an incubator and supplies for this learning experience. Once we have the incubator, the lesson can be added to our curriculum for new kindergarten students to enjoy each year.
