Pre-K is about social skills, making good decisions and using background knowledge towards new learning opportunities presented by the teacher. In Pre-K, students go to various centers/play stations like play-doh, blocks, kitchen and interact with manipulatives with their peers. The items in my cart are diverse. While boys can play in the kitchen, girls may also want to play with the tools. The diverse baby dolls that are in the stations will teach kids how to take care of and nurture one another. Puzzles are great visual/hands-on learning activities that offer repetition and reinforcement. Prek looks like play, but students are actually learning so much. School should be introduced as a fun and safe learning environment that offers kids what they want. Besides, some of these play/learning toys in my cart are things that students like mine dream about, but their parents can't afford.
