Just shy of half of my students have varying learning disabilities ranging from the Autistic Spectrum, Other health impairments, and Specific Learning Disabilities. The other half of my students are English Language learners. Some of my students have been in the country for several years while others just arrived within the last month. My students are kind and loving but most lack the academic support at home. This is often due to a language or intellectual barrier. My students are hard workers but come to school without the basic necessities of a warm home, food in their belly, or proper health care, including but not limited to needing glasses and not having them.
