Our school is in Ferguson with a population of 99% of Black that are on free lunch, and come from single family households. Some of the students here lack motivation, engagement, and lack confidence. These are just a few roadblocks in raising achievement. Many low achievers shut down when faced with tasks at which they think they will fail. Also, high achievers tune out when they feel they are not challenged. Our school has dedicated, committed, and caring teachers that want our students to be as successful, independent, and confident as possible. These students need to be given and exposed to as many positive opportunities as possible. They need a comfortable physical environment, a safe and secure emotional environment, and technology rich classrooms.
