I teach in a school with two dual language programs; French/English and Spanish/ English. My students come from diverse backgrounds both social economic and culturally. Some of my students do not have access to computers and or printers at home or in there communities. Our school does lots of project based work in all subject areas that require them to do research. In previous years we've had to provide those students with time in the computer lab, but that room is also used by the tech teacher to conduct lessons, therefore access to lab is very limited. I would have to do the actual research for them myself and give them the resources. This does not foster independence. Having a printer in our class will alleviate the problem of students not being prepared with necessary resources to move forward with there projects.
