Although we have some computers in our room, they have been in the school for as long as I have been a teacher (11 years!). The students are continually getting frustrated when they are in the middle of working and the computer suddenly shuts down and freezes on them. This makes it extremely hard for them during our testing windows and when they are working on their programs to help them move forward in their subject areas. It also interrupts small group time, when I need to go over and assess the problem. There are even times where are computers are down for days before a solution can be found. This is my first project, and depending on how this goes, I am hoping it will be one of many projects that will update the technology in our classroom!
