My students are returning to the classroom after several months of being away from school. Learning the ukulele will help them create and learn music while safely distancing from others. Ukuleles let us make music without having to use increased respiration common in many music activities like singing or playing recorders. My students use music to process big ideas and big feelings. It helps them connect with their classmates and express themselves, all of which are needed now more than ever. We will use our ukuleles to learn chords and develop ensemble skills and we are super excited to learn new songs. Learning the ukulele will help students engage with music safely and creatively!
