For many of our students, school is their happy and/or safe place. Learning in a remote setting can be very hard for our students who depend on school to self-regulate. We want to create Resiliency Bags to deliver to students in their neighborhoods. In an ordinary year, the school counselors would be busy in classrooms, small groups, or with individuals teaching resiliency skills to help cope with stressors. Since this is not an ordinary start to the year, we need to get creative in our approach. We have been and will continue to be visiting students in their neighborhoods and would like to bring them tools that would be helpful in developing resiliency. Included in these bags are fidgets, gratitude journals, mindfulness activities, visuals for social emotional learning and other items to help them stay focus and engaged while learning virtually.
