Many students in my school are near or below the poverty line, but they have ambition and dreams just like any other child. Part of my job is to foster that ambition and give them the tools to reach those dreams. Even at 7 and 8 years old, many of these kids are raising themselves, have seen and heard things we can't even imagine. They are artistic, kind, and respectful. My students come in with a smile, are learning to be accountable for their actions, and are becoming responsible members of our school community on a number of levels.
Our school, and community, is pretty close-knit. We are a small community and we genuinely care about each others' success. We are facing cuts like every other school in our state, so more and more is falling on the shoulders of parents and teachers to fill the gaps.
About my class
