My class integrates computational thinking, design principles, and entrepreneurship skills with the basics of programming and circuitry. We have been working on a wide array of Arduino projects that we need to prototype for production. The kids have plans for everything from monitoring soil moisture for the Ag department, to a motion sensitive security system for our room, to shoes that light up when they walk, and a coffee pot that I will be able to message on my way to school to have my coffee brewed and waiting. These fabulous projects require Arduino motherboards, jumper wires, resistors, capacitors, servo motors, power sources, and a wide array of LEDs and environmental sensors. Once we are certain that their prototypes work properly, they will be creating design files and electrical schematics for their projects. We intend to submit these for custom circuit board printing, at which point they will be soldering their components together. Before we can proceed, however, we need these supplies for building our prototypes. I've already spent several hundred dollars of my own money purchasing supplies, and negotiated a deal with a local electronics store for a discount. I've spent everything I possibly can, and exhausted my options regarding local businesses before posting this. I didn't want to ask unless absolutely necessary, but these are the remaining items still necessary for the projects in my three classes.
