This year, I will be expanding our energy unit to explore energy conversions in the world around us. My students love learning about electricity and exploring circuits. Once students solve the challenge of making a light bulb light up with just a D-cell battery, 2 wires, and a small light bulb, they are hooked and want to learn more! However, once we have mastered the simple circuit, I have few materials for my students to expand beyond the simplest form. These hand warmers and glow sticks will enable my students to investigate common energy conversions that exist in our everyday lives. They will transfer this knowledge as they build and explore more complex circuits by collaboratively using the snap circuit kits to design a toy that uses different energy conversions. Thanks in advance for helping them collaborate and expand their STEM knowledge!
