I usually have a class of 25 or more students in a small space. I look forward to my new group every year, and every year one of their biggest struggles is sitting still for all of the paper and pencil activities that are now part of the first grade curriculum. Our school serves students of a wide socioeconomic background, and many years my students struggle with the sitting and focusing that is now expected of them in school. We try to work in "move and groove" breaks, but sometimes they need a little bit more! We try at our school to do a variety of things to engage the brain, and keeps kids healthy and active while they are working.
